So my hair and I have just not been getting along lately. For those of you who live in Alberta like I do, you'll fully sympathize with me. Our climate is so dry that your skin actually feels itchy and your hair starts to feel like straw.
The winters are always harsh on the hair and skin, but this year has definitely been the worst for me. My hair has been impossible! Dry, knotty, staticky.. etc.
So I was googling different DIY hair masks that I could try because my professional masks aren't cutting it unfortunately.
Google gave me like 1000 mask options and so I decided to turn lots of those options into one lol.
I'm impatient and don't want to try all of the DIY recipes, but maybe all of the recipes mixed together could be even more beneficial right?😬 well, we'll find out. (Recipe Video Below)
I coated all of my hair with that pantry mix and covered it with a grocery bag... I know, keeping it classy.
I let it sit on my head for 45 min, wash it out with shampoo then used my normal hair conditioner afterwards.
It could either be a massive fail or I could have just created magic!
Ps I also put baking soda in the mix but forgot to video that...
Ok so before my random DIY hair mask:
-hair felt like straw, even after conditioning -had to stop my hair dryer 50 times to comb knots out
-couldn't touch it without it getting staticky -couldn't run fingers through it
-could hardly curl it because it was so dry that the iron couldn't grip it -had no shine
After my random DIY hair mask:
-was able to actually comb through it easily after my shower -wasn't knotting near as much while drying
-isn't staticky -can run my fingers through it easier
-was easy to curl
wow I was not expecting that to actually make a difference!😲 I literally prepared myself more to say that was a fail then to say it actually worked well. That wasn't even a recipe... I just threw a bunch of random pantry/fridge ingredients in a blender and put them on my head! So I think if I get a trim and do this weekly I can repair my hair, make it feel amazing, and prevent further damage.
Here's rough measurements if you want to try:
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup melted coconut oil
1 tbsp baking soda
1 tbsp peanut butter
2 tbsp mayo
2 tbsp honey
1 egg yolk
2 tbsp milk
💃🏻Blend it all up, put head over sink and coat your hair in the mixture. Use all of the mix and really get it all over. Use a grocery bag to put around your hair and tie it. Let it sit for 45 min and get some house work done🙄
Wash your hair really well with shampoo, then leave conditioner on for 2 min before rinsing. I combed my hair and let it air dry half way before using hair dryer.
So far i've been getting messages from other women saying this has worked for them too. Let me know if you notice benefits from this like we did!
