Blackened Chicken Breasts

I eat a lot of protein... especially chicken breasts. So if you're like me then you understand how boring and repetitive chicken can get! That's why it's important to change up your cooking styles and flavours to keep from getting bored.

 

 

 

This blackened chicken recipe is awesome because the flavours are bold so you really don't need to use any sauce which is great when you're trying to keep those calories low. You can place this chicken on top of any side dish! 

 

These are the measurements that I use because I like it spicy but you can reduce some of the hotter spices a little bit if you're more sensitive, or just sprinkle less.

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper

  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin

  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

  • 1/4 tsp onion powder

  • 5 boneless skinless chicken breasts

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Slice all of your chicken breasts horizontally so that they are half the thickness.

  3. Mix together all of the spices in a bowl.

  4. Heat up a large cooking skillet between a medium/high heat.

  5. Spray olive oil onto a large baking sheet.

  6. Lightly spray each side of your chicken breasts with olive oil then sprinkle your seasoning onto each side.

  7. Place the chicken into the hot pan for 1 minute then flip the chicken to cook the other side for 1 minute.

  8. After, place the breasts onto your cooking sheet and place in the oven for 20 minutes.

 

Remove from oven after 20 minutes, and serve or use as meal prep!
